Before You Buy

Buy a little heavy

Running out is the one mistake you can't fix mid-party. Most New Jersey liquor chains take back unopened bottles — ask about the return window at the register and keep your receipt.

Get it delivered

Ordering direct from a retailer's app usually means shelf pricing and a drop straight to your venue. Beats paying a caterer's markup, and it's one less carload on the day of.

Mid-shelf is the sweet spot

Our cost estimate assumes mid-range brands. Nobody notices top-shelf in a mixed drink — spend there only on what's being poured neat.

Don't forget the non-drinkers

Plan a few soft drinks and waters per non-drinking guest. Kids, drivers, and anyone pacing themselves still spend the night at the bar.

Ice goes fast

Figure two pounds per guest, and that's before chilling beer and wine. It's the single most commonly under-bought item at a private event.

This is an estimate

A summer backyard party drinks differently than a winter dinner reception. Use these numbers as a starting point, then tell us about your event and we'll sanity-check them.
