Planning a bar at the Shore: what is different here

Ocean County events have their own logistics, and most of them come down to water, bridges and season.

Barrier island access. The Route 72 causeway is the only road onto Long Beach Island, and the Route 37 bridge is the main route to Seaside. On summer Saturdays both back up, especially around rental changeover. We schedule arrival around it, and you should do the same for your alcohol delivery.

Decks, docks and lagoons. A lot of Ocean County parties happen over or beside water. Dock and deck bars need a flat, stable footprint, a plan for wind and shade for the ice. Tell us about the surface when you request a quote.

Rental houses. Summer rentals are popular for weddings and reunions, and owners differ on events. Confirm the lease allows a gathering of your size before you book vendors.

Parks, beaches and public property. Rules for alcohol on public land vary by town and by who manages the property. Municipal, county and state sites each have their own rules. Always confirm with the managing office. Do not assume a private-event setup is allowed.

Clubhouses and adult communities. Most allow outside bartenders with notice, and many ask for a certificate of insurance. We can provide one.

Season. May through September Saturdays book four to eight months ahead. Fall is the easiest time of year to get your first-choice date, and the weather at the Shore holds well into October.

New Jersey alcohol rules, in brief

For a private event, the host buys the alcohol from a licensed New Jersey retailer and we pour it as the host’s agent. A bartending company without a liquor license cannot sell alcohol. That rules out cash bars and drink tickets at private parties, and it means you pay shelf price and keep what is unopened. Read dry hire, explained and where to buy alcohol for your event.

What it costs
